Amazing Experiment

This afternoon room 10 did an experiment that included a Milo tin, a pressure cooker and cold water. Before we started the experiment some of the class guessed what was going to happen when we put the can on the pressure cooker with the water inside without the can lid.

Firstly we had to take off the Milo picture that was around the tin can, so that we could see if the fire would burn the tin. Then we put a little bit of cold water in the can before we put it on the pressure cooker.

After that we all went outside onto the grass to be safe. The pressure cooker was already on the grass so then Miss Misela put the can onto the pressure cooker without the lid and waited to see what would happen. Nothing happened on the outside of the can but inside the water was getting bubbles inside. It looked like Sprite to me because there was bubbles bubbling in the water.

Now we wanted to see what it would look like if we put the lid on and put it on the pressure cooker. We waited for a while and the lid exploded! It was amazing because all of our reactions were surprised.

I think that the lid flew off the can was because the heat from the pressure cooker was putting pressure in the can and it was rising up, then it put pressure on the can lid so that's how it exploded!!
