Zoo Trip; Pest Control

Monday 23rd November
The Y7's & 8's travelled to the zoo by bus for our pest control data. Our goal was to collect as much data for our data but I decided not to. I wanted to enjoy as much as my time. I noticed they built in new construction and moved some animals into it. I most excited to see the kanagroos but didn't get to seem them. Instead we saw the emu's which were admiring.
Here's some information I collect:
- ostrich bodies are also much too heavy to fly
- an ostrich skeleton is similiar to a velociraptor's
- seals have pups, they can become very protective and many seem aggressive
- a tutara kauika whale is; baleen, beaked and toothed all traverse NZ waters

TRIP To Hamlin's Hill?!!

Last Friday the year 8's and 7's had the opportunity to observe and search for pests/traps at the Hamlin's Hill mountain. We saw many extraordinary landscapes and discovered a lot about how to trap pests. The most factual thing I learnt was, our animals are transported from
different countries. Example: rabbits.
For me this trip was important because it's good to learn about animals/pests and how we can keep our communtiy & area safe. Thank you Frazer for this opportunity!
