Report On Data
Room 10 collected data from the survey that we did on all the school subjects that we do at school. Everyone in room 10 had a paper and rated the subjects with a dislike, okay and like a lot. It was very interesting because most students would prefer P.E than writing. Here is my report on the data that room 10 collected. The three subjects that I chose were, home learning, maths and music. I chose those three subjects because, for home learning it was the most disliked subject, maths had the most answers that were okay with maths, and music was the best subject lining up with P.E.

Tennis Lessons
Every Tuesday room 10 has tennis lessons with our Coach Peter. I was so excited because I've always wanted to play tennis I just...always didn't play it right. When we were hitting the tennis ball with our rackets, it was hard for me to hit the ball with the racket I was holding because, we had to hit the ball soft because we were standing close to the net. As I hit the ball it softly flew over to the other side. The person that was standing on the other side (Kymani) hit the ball very hard and it went over the fence. Other than that tennis was a fun experience and I hope that someday we can play a game of tennis.

Last Toi Toi!
On Tuesday this week. Room 9 and Room 10 came together for our LAST Toi Toi book for this year of 2018. When the people that were going to read with us came in, most of us recognised some of them because, they came to our school last term. One of them introduced the cover of the new Toi Toi book. It was very interesting because, she said that the dog at the front cover of the book, was called "Lucky" and he came from Tonga.
Once she introduced the cover of the book, we all got divided into six groups because their were six of them. My group went into Room 11 since there were already groups in Room 10. When we all settled down, we all had to introduce ourselves. We read a couple of stories that our reader/leader bookmarked for us to read each. My favourite story that we read was "The Hospice" because, it made me very hungry. I had an amazing time with the Toi Toi people and reading the last Toi Toi book.

Reflection on Term 3 Goals
Achieved: I did achieve my reading goal because at home I practised reading with another book and I was trying to speak louder.
Achieved: I did achieve my writing goal because I added more detail to my story and added in some juicy words to not make my story boring.
Achieved and Not Achieved: I achieved and did not achieve my maths goal because, I did learn my eight times tables but, I didn't learn my nine times tables.

Daffodil Day!
Last week on Friday, Ruapotaka school had a special assembly to remember the word "Hope" for those who have suffered a bad illness called "Cancer". Hope can mean a lot of things but some of them are, hoping that the people that have cancer get better. Hoping that they'll live another day. Hoping that the researchers find a curer to cure people that have cancer. Cancer is very sad and emotional to look at.
That's why "Ruapotaka School" decided to have a donation so that the Ruapotaka students can donate, $1 or $2 for the researchers to find a curer. I donated my $1 so that I could show respect to those who have cancer. In this picture, you can see that mostly everyone in room 10 bought a daffodil. In the first picture you can see that the prefects are holding up a word called "Hope". On the word Hope, there is daffodils that Ruapotaka School made to glue it on there.

Never Trust Strangers!
- Introduction:
- On a sunny day, there was a girl whose name was Chantel. Chantel’s parents were out of town at a restaurant to celebrate Mother's Day. Chantel didn’t want to go because she wanted her parents to have a lovely day without her.
- Chantel was sitting on the couch watching her favourite shows on the tv. Chantel went on her phone but her phone was only 2%. She sat back on the couch thinking what to do. Chantel charged her phone and decided to go for a walk down to the arcade.
- What Starts The Story?:
- Chantel started to walk but she would always feel like someone was following her. She kept on walking until a car stopped beside her. “Hello’’ the women says. Chantel says hello but she begins to walk faster. “Where are you going?’’ the women asks Chantel. “Oh, I’m just going to the arcade!’’ Chantel replies. “I can take you there faster’’ the women says. Chantel agreed to go with the stranger, she seemed so nice and innocent.
- Problem:
- The women was driving Chantel to the arcade. Chantel looked out her window and saw that she had past the arcade. “Um, excuse me the arcade is back there!’’ Chantel shouts. The women laughs. “AHHHHHHHH!’’ Chantel screams. Chantel tried to find her phone but it wasn’t there. “Ugh I left my phone!’’ Chantel screamed but no one could her her. The stranger turned up her music. She tried to scream louder for help but no one could hear her when they were walking by. Chantel cried and cried. Suddenly she saw her mum and dad coming back in their car. Chantel banged on her window to get her mum and dad’s attention.
- Solution:
- Chantel’s parents looked at her daughter and called the police. Chantel’s parents followed the strangers car. Chantel could hear police sirens so she knew that her mum and dad had called the police. The police cars surround the stranger’s car. The stranger got out of her car and the police arrested her. Chantel’s parents got their daughter out of the car as well. “Thank you’’ Chantel says excitedly. “Wait, aren’t you supposed to be out of town?’’ Chantel asks her parents. “Well… the restaurant got cancelled because there were too much people there’’ Chantel’s mum replies. They laughed and laughed except for the stranger!

How I Met My Best Friend!
It all began on a beautiful lovely day in a town of Lako. I was staying over at my grandmother’s house because, my mum and dad were out of town for a month. I was just asleep, but heard kids playing outside my window, so I finally woke up. I got changed and brushed my teeth and went to go find my grandma. “Look what I made for you’’ grandma shouted. “Yum, BROWNIES!’’ I shout. “Yep I made them just for you!’’ grandma replied. “Thank you” I say and head off to eat one. “Grandma?’’ I ask. “Would you mind if we head to the park, I mean it’s a lovely day outside?’’ I say politely. Grandma started thinking, I thought she was going to say no at first. “Sure!’’ grandma says. “We’ll take the brownies to the park as well’’, and so we headed off.
When we arrived at the park, I was so happy! “Why don’t you make some friends you know… have fun?’’ grandma asks to me. I smile at my grandma and run off to the playground. I made a lot of friends, mostly because I said hello to everyone (that was playing on the playground), and they said hello back...except for one girl. She didn’t seem happy that I was there. I went up to the lonely girl and said hello. The lonely girl said hello back. “Umm… are you okay?’’ I ask the girl. The girl screamed and ran off. Everyone was looking at me. They probably thought that I heart the girl’s feelings or something. I just embarrassed myself in front of everyone (that were on the park)
I told my grandma about what happened. After that we went back to my grandma’s house. That night, I laid in my bed, thinking of what I should’ve said than “Are you okay?’’.. I had so many feelings and thoughts in my head, I fell asleep. As the days past and I started going to the park more often. I’d always see the same lonely girl, swinging on the same swing. Even if I’d walk up to her, or try to say sorry, she’d always run away. Eventually my grandma and I stopped going to the park.
13 Days Later…
I was sitting on the couch, minding my own business while my grandma was cooking some brownies. Until I hear a knock at the door. I get up and open the door to see who it is... I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I was completely froze again. I tried to talk but I couldn’t, it was too hard for me. “Well, hello’’ my grandma says. “Hello’’ the girl replies. Grandma looks at me, I look back at her. “He….l….loo…’’ I say. I just embarrassed myself in front of the girl’s PARENTS! “So, what are you doing here?’’ my grandma ask. “We’re just here to stop by and say sorry’’ the girl’s parents reply. “Sorry for what…?’’ grandma asks. “They’re here to say sorry because the girl kept running away from me!’’ I reply back. Again I embarrassed myself, what a total dumpster. My grandmother, and the girl’s parents were shocked. I apologize to everyone. “What’s your name?’’ I ask the girl, and for the first time… the girl replies with a different answer!! “My name is Rose’’ rose( girl) replies. I asked Rose a couple of more questions. Rose and her parent’s head off back to their home. I smile at grandma. “Looks like you’ve made a friend’’ grandma says. I go back to sit on the couch, while my grandma goes back to making the brownies.
Rose and I have been hanging out a lot. Now I know why she would always run away from me at the park, but that’s another story. I’ve learnt more about the lonely girl…. Well…. Not exactly lonely but now I can call her my best friend!

The Adventure!
Bright early in the morning. My mum was still asleep and my dad was at work. I decided to paint because I had nothing to do, and it's one of my favourite hobbies. In one of my paintings, I painted a gigantic unicorn, I named her Meg. I drew some other things on another piece of artwork but it looked weird and SCARY. I continued on painting and painting and soon I finished.
I hanged my paintings up and the house looked like an art gallery. I really wanted to go into my painting with the unicorn, but magic wasn't real to me. "I wish I could go into my painting'' I said. Suddenly I saw glitter swirling around my entire body! "HELP!'' I shouted. My mum tried to help me but she couldn't do anything. I tried to grab onto the kitchen chair, but when I put my hand out, my hand was turning invisible. "AHHHH!'' I screamed.
My screaming faded away. I opened my eyes, I was on a farm. "Where am I?'' I thought to myself. Just then, I noticed that the unicorn that I drew was staring at me."Meg?'' I said. Meg was a massive unicorn, it was surprising. I couldn't believe it, I was in my painting. I went into the barn that I painted to look around. While I was looking, I saw an old man feeding the cows.
"Hello sir'' I say. The man looks at me and says hello. "So you can talk?'' I ask. The man chuckles and continues to milk the cow. "Excuse me, uh do you know how I can get out of this painting?'' I ask the man. " The man looks at me and gives me a map. "Follow this map, it'll take you to where you need to go'' the man said. "Thank you'' I say and I went off.
The first painting was a beach. It was the painting that I drew as well. The waves looked amazing, I really wanted to surf on it. I looked at the map, it said to cross the ocean. I tried to look for something to cross the ocean with. I kept on looking and soon I found a small boat. "There it is'' I say to myself. I hop into the boat and drifted off. I was almost there, the waves started to get stronger and stronger. I was so happy that I could drive a boat but in the distance I saw something huge coming towards me.
It was coming closer. I looked at it once more, I thought I was going to die. "WAVE!'' I shouted. Quickly I turned the boat into another direction. I missed the wave and I was safe on the other side. I looked at the map. Walked up to the end of the painting, and jumped to the next.
I was almost done, only had one more painting to get through. The next painting was another painting that I drew. "This is so tiring'' I shouted. The painting that was in was beautiful. I was in jungle. I was walking and I heard a weird noise. I kept on walking and saw a scary creature! He had sharp teeth and he was as big as a tree. "AHHHH'' I screamed. I ran as fast as my little legs could go. The creature was catching up to me. The creature stopped and went into another direction. Just as I thought I was safe, I saw another monster, but this monster was different. It had long black hair hanging from it's face, elf ears and really hideous long legs. "AHHHH'' I shouted. I was close to the end of the painting. The monster was about to catch me, but I found a vine hanging down. I jumped on the vine and was swinging. After the vine was going higher and higher, I jumped to the final painting.
Here I was, standing in the painting. It a lovely painting. There was a village and people dancing to some music. "Wow'' I say. "I would love to stay here'', but I spoke too soon. I didn't see anything expect a tornado coming my way. "Why is this happening to me?'' I asked myself. It was coming closer. People were flying in the tornado, screaming for help! I looked at the map. I was almost there. The tornado was so strong. I ran and ran. My legs were slipping from the floor. The tornado past me. I was finally safe. A door opened and I jumped into it.
"Yay, I'm back!'' I say excitedly. I clean up the painting supplies. "Why are you up so early?'' my mum asks. "Oh, I was just... I was bored so I decided to paint'' I say to my mum. "Okay...'' my mum went off back into bed. "What an adventure'' I say happily!

An Amazing Trip To The Auckland Museum!
On Wednesday this week, room 10 and room 9 went to the Auckland Museum to look and learn about ANZAC and war. I was very excited to go to the Museum because I could see what soldiers used to fight.
When we arrived at the Museum, it was amazing. I saw a tower that was made with Lego and other cool things. Before we explored the Museum, we had to hear the rules about the Museum. After that we could go look at World War one & World War two.
When we went exploring in World War one, I saw a lot of soldiers who went to war but they died. It was interesting looking at the soldiers who went to war because, at the bottom I saw why they died.
Then we headed over to World War two and explored there. I went through where the sacks were, and I saw something I'd never seen before. It was the first time that I saw a grenade, all types of guns and some knife that soldiers used when they went to war.
While Kate !and I were exploring World War two, we came across a letter that the soldiers used to sign up for the Army. Also we found letters that soldiers wrote at war. Their handwriting was hard to read because it was fancy and very neat.
I had a great time visiting the Auckland Museum because I got to learn more that I didn't know before!

Making Poppies For Art!
Today room 10 made ANZAC poppies for art. Miss Misela showed us how to create the ANZAC poppies before we got started.
When I was doing the ANZAC poppies, it was a bit hard because when we cutted out our poppy, sometimes the pieces that we cut out will fall into little pieces. The first instruction that we had to do was, fold the red piece of paper and cut it out, and then fold one of the red piece of paper.
Now we had to cut petal of a poppy on the folded piece of paper. When we opened up the piece of paper, it is shaped as a poppy. Then we did the same thing to the other half of the piece paper but when we finished cutting our petal of the paper, we opened up our paper and cut one of the petal's and glue one side to the other, so that it looked like tea cup.
Next we gave our poppies to Miss Misela to put the stick through our poppies. After Miss Misela put the stick through our poppy, we had to cut out a small strip of black and red paper, to glue it around the bottom of the poppy and for the top. Our poppies looked amazing when Miss Misela sticked them in a plastic cup to stand them up.
I had an great time making poppies for art. It was a bit hard but I got better and made my poppy look beautiful!

How To Get To A New Destination
- Start at the starting point, make sure your facing towards a yellow building.
- Take 14 steps forwards and towards the white line.
- Turn right and take 12 steps.
- Turn left and take 6 steps.
- You have reached your destination!
What I've learnt
I learnt that you have to make your instructions specific for people to read them and follow them. Also I learnt that you should make your instructions short not long so that, it doesn't make the person who's reading your instructions frustrated.

How To Get To My Favourite Place
Today I'll be writing about how to get to my favourite place. My favourite place is the Victoria Dance Academy in Glen Innes.
1. Get in your car and reverse out of your driveway.
2. Turn left and drive straight, after turn left again and drive straight. When your driving straight you'll see Pak'nsave and other shops too.
3. Next turn left at the traffic light and turn right again so that you're near other shops.
4. Go through where all of the cars are parked and park your car there.
5. Get out of your car and head straight up the pathway and you'll see a bakery that's next to the dance academy.
6. Now you've reached my favourite place!

How To Draw A Portrait Of Yourself
How To Draw A Portrait Of Yourself
Today for my procedural writing I'm going to be showing you, how to draw a portrait of yourself and how to make your drawings better than drawing two dotted eyes and a line for your mouth.
1. First draw the shape of what you think your head might look like. Also when you draw your face onto your paper, make sure that your face is big so that you can add in your eyes, nose and mouth.
2. Next draw little lines that come down the face and make sure when you do it that it's equal. After that draw the little lines across your face where your mouth will go and, draw it above where your eyes might be too.
3. Then draw half of your eye where the lines are and draw the other half of your eye, below the line. Do the same thing to the other side.
4. Now draw your mouth in the middle line and the line that is across. Start from one side and make the shape of your lip and finish at the bottom of the line that's in the middle. Then draw your lip on the other side the same way.
5. After drawing your mouth, time to draw your nose. Make sure that you make your lines a bit wide. While drawing your nose draw two lines below the eyes. Now draw two sloping lines starting from where you drew the lines under your eye. Then draw little C's at the end of the two lines that we drew that were under the eyes.
6. Lastly you can draw your hair and make it look realistic. For mine, my hair was in a braid so I did a pony tail and started doing cross's in the pony tail to look like a braid.
7. Finally you can decorate with colours or just leave it. Your portrait will look amazing!

Great Day At St. Kents
Today room 9 and room 10 took a bud and drove to St. Kents to play some fun activities. When we arrived we had to get into 4 or 5 groups.
After that we went with our St. Kent instructors and played the activities. The activities that my group played were the basketball game and another game but I don't remember the name of it.
I felt exhausting playing the games at St. Kents!

The DANGER Man!
Danger Man
In the story the characters are Josh, Luke, Ryan and Mr Muckle.
At the start of the story, the setting is in a camp site. It was 5:30 early in the morning, and Josh and his friends were asleep. Josh was wide awake and the camp was quiet. Everyone was asleep so Josh decided to look around the camp site with his friends. He woke up his friends and went outside to start exploring.
While they were exploring the camp site, there wasn't much to see but they came across a little lake. Josh and his friends thought that whoever had owned the camp dammed up the stream. There was also a raft. They were looking around and Josh spotted something in the bush. There was a rope that you could ride on to the other side of the lake. It was like a flying fox to them. The flying fox started from one side of the lake and ended to the other side.
His friends were not sure because Josh would switch off his brain and do things that his friends wouldn't do. When Josh made it up to the rope, he wasn't sure to but his friends said that he'll be fine. Josh went and zoomed across the lake, suddenly the rope that Josh was on was getting lower and lower until he reached the lake.
Josh fell in the lake and the owner of the camp was standing there with Luke's dad. The camp owner looked very angry at Josh because Josh did silly things at the camp. Josh was soaking wet and had to go back home. That's why he was called the DANGER MAN!!!

The Commonwealth Games - KW
My KW
K
I know that different countries go to the Commonwealth Games in Australia. They have different countries that come to watch or do the Commonwealth Games. The Commonwealth Games have sports such as soccer, swimming, running, shot put, ice skating and rugby.
I think that the Commonwealth Games is a competition programme where people can go to the Commonwealth Games, in Australia and participate. Also I think the Commonwealth Games is where people are good at a sport and they go there to compete other people, to see if they are good enough.
W
I want to know what other types of sports do the people play and what do you do in the Commonwealth Games. Also I want to know why do we have the Commonwealth Games. Lastly I want to know when the Commonwealth Games start and end.

The Lonely Cat
There was a lonely cat
Who was very fat
She didn't know where to be but,
found someone that was free
She ran and ran and hit a tree
On her knee was a little cut
She didn't care so she ran until,
she lost her breath of air...
The lonely cat was lost,
She didn't know where to be
She ran and ran and hit a girl
Who was as kind as pearl
So the girl kept the lonely cat,
and put the cat in a safe hat!

So the girl kept the lonely cat,
and put the cat in a safe hat!

The Big Mean Witch!
On a dark, scary night, there lived the evil mean witch
She had a great big itch on her hairy leg
She would snitch children's candy but wouldn't beg
Sometimes she'd cook people that would make her very happy
but she'd also get quite snappy
The witch would crash people's parties,
Sometimes she'd even steal people's smarties,
and would always turned people into panties
Everyone hated the big mean witch, but they couldn't do anything at all
The witch wasn't impressed of what people thought of her,
so she went and looked for a new home
She looked and looked and finally,
she decided to live in Rome!
so she went and looked for a new home
She looked and looked and finally,
she decided to live in Rome!

Swimming With Instructors
This week room 10 did swimming with the instructors. We had two instructors for each group to separate us into the two groups.
Once we were all into our groups, we began to swim. For my group we had to hold onto the boards at the top and, kick to the other side of the pool. It was very exhausting because my legs were getting tired but I made it to the other side.
After a few swim skills we went on our backs. I was very nervous because if I went on my back and kicked to the other side, I'll probably hit my head on the wall around the pool, and that would really hurt.
My favourite skill that I did with the instructors was when we did arm strokes to the other side. Also I enjoyed doing stream lining and diving to the bottom while we do stream lining. The skill that I want to complete before swimming is over, is doing laps with my arm stroke without touching the ground.
It was an awesome time swimming with the instructors because I got to learn more on swimming skills than I did before.

Amazing Experiment
Firstly we had to take off the Milo picture that was around the tin can, so that we could see if the fire would burn the tin. Then we put a little bit of cold water in the can before we put it on the pressure cooker.
After that we all went outside onto the grass to be safe. The pressure cooker was already on the grass so then Miss Misela put the can onto the pressure cooker without the lid and waited to see what would happen. Nothing happened on the outside of the can but inside the water was getting bubbles inside. It looked like Sprite to me because there was bubbles bubbling in the water.
Now we wanted to see what it would look like if we put the lid on and put it on the pressure cooker. We waited for a while and the lid exploded! It was amazing because all of our reactions were surprised.
I think that the lid flew off the can was because the heat from the pressure cooker was putting pressure in the can and it was rising up, then it put pressure on the can lid so that's how it exploded!!
