Technology: LIGHT BULBS - W4

On Wednesdays the year 8's and 7's go to Tamaki College for technology. My group is doing science with Ms. Sharma. The last few weeks have been amazing because I learnt so many things about plastic, science and our upcoming topic, energy.

Last week we researched a lot about light bulbs and the power they hold wether it's good or bad. Next we took wires and connected them both to a light contraption. Kate and I were shocked. I hope this week will be more fascinating and interesting!

TRIP To Hamlin's Hill?!!

Last Friday the year 8's and 7's had the opportunity to observe and search for pests/traps at the Hamlin's Hill mountain. We saw many extraordinary landscapes and discovered a lot about how to trap pests. The most factual thing I learnt was, our animals are transported from
different countries. Example: rabbits.
For me this trip was important because it's good to learn about animals/pests and how we can keep our communtiy & area safe. Thank you Frazer for this opportunity!

Fresh Start For 2020 - BLOG Profile🌞

Malo e lelei, my name is Limiteti and grew up in Auckland, New Zealand. I’m a year 8 attending Ruapotaka Primary School and my teacher is Mrs. Cardoza.

I have four siblings in total and my culture is full Tongan. My most liked subject in school is history because it’s fascinating to research about the past world. For my hobby, I enjoy multiple things but my most favorite is probably investigating/prediciting the future.

Growing up I had many aspirations like being a teacher or someone who owned a bakery store. I’m still confused and lost of what I want to pursue when I’m older but, I strongly want to be someone who takes care of animals or keeps them safe.

Some goals I want to accomplish during this year is getting accepted into a good college and improving my knowledge and grades. It will be tough as a year 8 but in the end, I hope focusing on my work is worth it.  I can't wait to see what 2020 has to offer, thank you for reading my blog profile.

KAYAKING 2019!!

Today my class had a surprise to transport to Wero Whitewater Park and experience kayaking. I was overwhelmed with excitment because I've always wanted to see what it felt like rowing.

We arrived at the destination, from there we prepared ourselves for the kayaking lesson. One of the instructors taught us the two main actions we should know about kayaking. After all the confusion, it was time to kayak around the area.

The hardest part during kayaking was paddling forwards because, sometimes your boat would turn a different direction randomly. Other than that I had an amazing time kayaking with my class!

Starting Our Pieces...

Today at tech we started to create another design but only making our pieces for our game. All I did was simply ctrl+c to copy the shape, & ctrl+v to paste the shape onto a new platform. Next I decided to produce a new game using tinkercad again.
During the process of making my new game, I found out how to draw things using the scribble effect. I drew many things like animals, shapes, food etc. Liza and I had a competition to see
who was the best artist.

Kiwi Kids News- COUNTDOWN TO STOP SELLING ENERGY DRINKS TO CHILDREN?!

New Zealand super market Countdown, has announced there will be an age restriction for drinking energy drinks. Starting from September, people will need to be 16 and over to purchase an energy drink.

Energy drinks are not recommended for minor children as this move had an amount of support. Many are suggesting the government should bring in more responsible rules.

Research from Food Standards Australia and New Zealand shows that energy drinks have less than three percent of overall caffeine. What are your opinions?
