Samoan Language Week! 🇼🇸

As Samoan Language Week is coming to an end, I hope everyone had the chance to learn an interesting fact about its culture and events that occur there.
Today we were very excited to have Room 6 present what they created for Samoan Language Week. Including some students who read aloud interesting information.

Does Antarctica EXIST??

Antarctica is a content underneath at the bottom of the world hiding from the globe. This is a place where almost its entirely covered with ice and snow. There are no trees or mammals & hardly any humans come to visit.

Over the years, there was a time when a Greek Scholar who named it hadn't even been there. He thought there must be a place at the opposite of the world to the Artic. If you had the chance, would you visit Antarctica?

TECHNOLOGY: Beginning Of Hard Material!

This Wednesday we moved to a different learning subject, that is of course hard material. For hard material we're creating metal necklaces. We had to write about 4 recipents & things that make them special or unique. Next we can plan a symbol that
speaks for that word.
I didn't have my chromebook due to repairing so I wrote and planned my ideas on this sheet of paper. Next week I hope we can learn further more about this. It seems really intriging.

Maths: STATISTICS

This week we started learning about statistics for maths. From what I learnt so far, statistics is like an investigation. You collect data and analyse the results that you have.
With Ms. Vowles Room 7 devised a graph about ice cream to show an example of what statistics is.

What's A Smart Footprint?!

I believe a smart footprint is a google drawing where you label your ideas into colonies relating to the topic. For example think of the the word "footprint". For me it reminds me of how we walk (suggesting your opinions) to reach what you think is the goal, or conclusion

What do you think a smart footprint is?

I BROKE My Chromebook??

During lockdown, my chromebook decided to break. The lenge of the right side fell apart. I learnt many things from experience and will make sure it won't happen again.

If you have a chromebook, please make sure to take care of it carefully. The chromebook safety rules are always helpful as well. You never know when somethings going to happen, until it does eventually.

LEARNING RECORDERS FOR THE FIRST TIME!

Today Room 7 recieved a recorder and learnt many things with Ms. Mitchell. Recorders are a bit similar to flutes but still have their own differences.

The steps were simple, we had to cover the back of the recorder with our thumb.  Your other fingers were useful for "B, A & G". (is what we learnt)
First song: 'Hot Cross Buns'. The notes were pretty uncomplicated considering the notes went from top to bottom. I hope next we can experience learning a more difficult song.

Social Insects (Explanation About Ants) 🐜

For writing we reviewed different social insects. The insects we talked about were bees, wasps, termites and ants. Our task was to find books and study compelling facts/information about the insect we chose.

I wrote an explanation of ants because I felt like they were the most looked down upon the other insects that were there.

On the side is my diagram I drew of an ant and its body parts. I learnt a lot about the thorax of an ant and its abdomen

Yesterday Room 7 had to produce a slideshow following on their lockdown with questions they had to answer from the board. Down below is my slideshow along with some of the things I liked, missed the most, who I'd want to lockdown with next time etc.

First Day Back At School! 📚

Today was our (for some students) first day back at school after many weeks in lockdown. Everything felt very different and indeed the rules changed so, it's taking me time to adjust to them. We couldn't touch much objects or stand by anyone close to us, but other than that my day went well.

It did feel a lot quiet and I did become bored sometimes resulting in me having a few little headaches in between class sessions. I do hope everything will work out in the end and I become more aware & comfortable with the new rules applied to the school. Stay safe! :)
